Alliance Development Group Acquires Damon’s Grill

Popular sports grill chain to remain in Columbus, launch nationwide growth plan.

CHARLOTTE, NC AND COLUMBUS, OH – Charlotte, NC based Alliance Development Group, LLC, has purchased Damon’s International Inc.’s Damon’s Grill restaurant chain. With almost 100 locations worldwide, Damon’s is a full-service casual dining restaurant concept known for its award-winning ribs. The Columbus, Ohio based company was founded in 1979. Its headquarters will remain in Columbus. Most members of the current management team and home office staff are expected to remain with the company, and additional hiring is planned. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

“We believe that there is tremendous equity in the Damon’s brand, and we are excited about putting plans in place to ensure the long term growth of the company,” says William Burk, president of Alliance Development Group. “Our plans include placing Damon’s restaurants in growing and emerging markets to better position the chain. Our expertise in locating and purchasing the right property, as well as building and outfitting restaurants will allow us to get new units up and running more rapidly. Our approach will be to build some additional company-owned stores with a focus on helping our existing franchisees add new sites for future growth.”

Carl T. Howard, a twelve year Damon’s veteran who was serving a chief operating officer, has moved into the lead post as president and CEO. “He brings continuity and in-depth industry knowledge to the table and we are thrilled to have Carl to lead us into the exciting future at Damon’s,” continued Burk.

Howard has directed Damon’s recent efforts to improve the chain’s performance and position it for growth under Alliance’s ownership. “We have reduced the cost of developing our building, greatly improved customer satisfaction scores and we’ve invested heavily in developing a new menu to be introduced next month,” Howard said. “Alliance gives us the depth of resources and development expertise we need to expand Damon’s, which remains a very distinctive casual-dining concept.”
